Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 to Skip Nintendo Switch 2

by Ryan Jan 08,2026

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 appears poised to miss the Nintendo Switch 2 launch window, even though its parent company Microsoft has a "binding 10-year legal commitment" to bring the franchise to Nintendo systems.

Back in 2023, as part of its effort to gain regulatory approval for the Activision Blizzard acquisition, Microsoft pledged to release upcoming Call of Duty titles on Nintendo platforms simultaneously with Xbox versions, ensuring "full feature and content parity."

Microsoft stated then that Nintendo players would be able to "enjoy Call of Duty just as Xbox and PlayStation fans do." The franchise has been absent from Nintendo consoles since Call of Duty: Ghosts launched for the Wii U in 2013.

However, according to credible insider billbil-kun (via Dealabs), Black Ops 7 is scheduled for a November 14, 2025 release on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. While a Switch 2 version may arrive later, it currently won't debut alongside Xbox at launch.

Following the official announcement of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 in June, both Activision and Nintendo reportedly began collaborating to bring the iconic first-person shooter series to the Switch. In a statement to IGN, Activision confirmed ongoing efforts: "We remain dedicated to launching the franchise on Switch. Our teams are actively working on it and will share updates when available."

Separately, billbil-kun noted that Xbox editions will include a physical disc release, marking a departure from recent Microsoft titles.

Regarding pricing, Black Ops 7 is reportedly set at 79.99 euros, suggesting a $69.99 U.S. price point. Earlier this summer, Microsoft confirmed it would not implement an $80 price tag for its holiday lineup, including Obsidian's The Outer Worlds 2, after initially considering price hikes beyond $70. This reinforced expectations that Black Ops 7 would maintain the $70 standard, which billbil-kun's report now corroborates.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will be officially unveiled on August 19 during gamescom's Opening Night Live. More details will be shared at that time.
