The rivalry between Marvel and DC may be legendary, but the two comic giants are temporarily setting aside their differences to publish their first crossover titles since 2003's JLA/Avengers. Who better to bridge these iconic universes than the mismatched duo of Batman and Deadpool?
As Entertainment Weekly exclusively revealed, Marvel and DC are collaborating on two special one-shot comics featuring these fan-favorite characters. Marvel will publish Deadpool/Batman #1 by writer Zeb Wells (The Amazing Spider-Man) and artist Greg Capullo (Batman), while DC counters with Batman/Deadpool #1 from writer Grant Morrison (Batman) and artist Dan Mora (Superman/Batman: World's Finest). Both issues will include additional backup stories pairing other Marvel and DC characters.

This historic crossover marks the first official Marvel/DC collaboration in over two decades (excluding Fortnite's Omniverse crossover). The publishers previously joined forces for notable team-ups beginning with 1976's Superman vs. The Amazing Spider-Man.
"These collaborations typically happen once per comics generation," DC's President Jim Lee told EW. "The timing needs to feel organic - such crossovers should remain special events requiring extensive coordination between companies. Beyond creative alignment, we're balancing business considerations while ensuring the story justifies the anticipation."
Regarding the unusual Batman/Deadpool pairing, Marvel Entertainment President Dan Buckley explained: "It simply felt like a fun, unexpected combination. Deadpool's absurdity contrasting with Batman's intensity creates perfect comedic tension - violent yet hilarious. Our goal is creating exciting stories that attract both new and lapsed readers."
