How To Access the Deep Woods in Fields of Mistria

Since *Fields of Mistria* entered Steam Early Access, the Deep Woods has been tantalizingly marked on the town map, yet remained inaccessible—until the March 2025 update. This guide reveals how to unlock this new area and locate Caldarus.

Unlocking the Deep Woods in *Fields of Mistria*

The Deep Woods unlock hinges on breaking the Fire Seal and utilizing the newly acquired Dragon's Breath spell to burn away obstructing vines. This requires a specific offering to the Priestess's Fire Seal altar (Floor 60 of the mines): a Faceted Rock Gem, a Rockroot, an Emerald, and a Sealing Scroll. The first three are found between floors 50 and 59. The scroll, however, requires assistance. You must leave these items in the bin near Balor's wagon:

• 10 Silver Ingots
• 10 Rubies
• 10 Sapphires
• 10 Emeralds

After meeting these requirements, speak with Balor; he'll deliver the scroll the following day. Once the offering is complete, expect an unexpected twist. The Priestess's parting words are far from typical, leaving you depleted and in need of rescue. Enter Caldarus, appearing in human form before retreating to his temple in the Deep Woods to recover. He then tasks you with finding him there, granting you the Dragon's Breath spell in the process.

This powerful offensive spell not only clears the Deep Woods entrance but also opens other previously blocked areas. Equip it from the pause menu and activate it while facing the entrance to permanently unlock the path.

Locating Caldarus

Following the Fire Seal's breach, Caldarus awaits within his temple in the Deep Woods, north of the Eastern Road. Use Dragon's Breath to access the area. His location is clearly marked on your map. You'll find him in the northeast corner, requiring a quick axe swing to clear a fallen stump before reaching his temple.

Once unlocked, the Dragon Statue on your farm offers convenient fast travel to the Deep Woods (10 Essence). While you can visit him directly, interacting with his statue remains an option.
