This guide details everything you need to know about tackling the challenging Infested Clear missions in 7 Days To Die, maximizing your rewards and survival chances.
To begin, visit one of the five traders (Rekt, Jen, Bob, Hugh, or Joe). Mission location and tier significantly impact difficulty. Higher tiers mean tougher enemies, and biome matters; Wasteland missions are considerably harder than forest missions. Infested missions unlock after completing 10 Tier 1 missions, requiring Tier 2 access. Expect more and tougher zombies (radiated, cops, ferals) compared to standard clear missions. Tier 6 missions are the most difficult but offer the best rewards for well-equipped players. The objective remains consistent across all tiers: eliminate all enemies in a designated area.
Upon reaching the Point of Interest (POI), activate the mission marker. Leaving the area or dying results in mission failure. POIs often feature triggered events (collapsing floors, ambushes). Avoid the obvious, often well-lit paths to circumvent these traps. Carry building blocks to escape traps or create alternate routes for flanking enemies.
Zombies are indicated by red dots on the screen; larger dots mean closer proximity. Focus on headshots, especially considering the unique abilities of certain zombie types:

Cops | Spit toxic vomit, explode when injured | Observe their head-back posture before spitting; maintain distance, seek cover. |
Spiders | Jump long distances | Listen for their screech before jumping; prepare for quick headshots. |
Screamers | Summon other zombies | Prioritize eliminating them to prevent overwhelming hordes. |
Demolition Zombies | Glowing explosive package on chest | Avoid hitting their chest; run away if the explosive starts beeping. |
The final room usually contains high-tier loot, but also a large number of zombies. Ensure you're fully healed, weapons are loaded and durable, and you know the escape route before entering.
Once all zombies are eliminated, the objective changes; return to the trader for your reward. Collect all loot, including the valuable Infested Cache containing high-quality items.
Rewards are random but depend on game stage, loot stage (boosted by the Lucky Looter skill and Treasure Hunter mod), mission tier, and skill points. Investing in the "A Daring Adventurer" perk significantly improves rewards. At rank 4, it allows you to select two rewards instead of one. Sell unwanted items to the trader for additional XP (1 XP per Duke).
