Ever downloaded an app and promptly forgotten about it? Google Play Store may have the answer. A leaked feature suggests an upcoming auto-launch functionality for newly installed apps.
The Details
Android Authority reports that the Play Store is developing a feature designed to streamline app installation. This potential addition would automatically open downloaded apps upon completion. No more hunting for icons or wondering about download status – the app will launch directly.
This isn't official yet. The information stems from an APK teardown of Play Store version 41.4.19, meaning no official announcement or release date exists. However, if implemented, it'll likely be called "App Auto Open" and importantly, be entirely optional. Users can enable or disable auto-launch as desired.
The process seems straightforward. A notification banner will appear for approximately five seconds upon download completion, potentially accompanied by a sound or vibration, ensuring visibility even during other activities.
While this remains unofficial, we'll update you with any official announcements from Google. In the meantime, check out our other recent news, such as the Android release of Hyper Light Drifter Special Edition.
